Must I Mist? Six Different Facial Mists and What They’re For

Posted by Glam Team on

One trend we’ve seen in beauty is the rise of facial mists, which is no surprise for us, considering we live in a tropical country where the heat literally melts the foundation off our faces. Summer is definitely the perfect season to own a bottle because apart from using it to refresh your skin in the middle of the day, different types of facial mists actually have different purposes! Some allow makeup to last longer or prevent your base from looking cakey, while others give a burst of hydration.

The girls over at the Pixi by Petra headquarters in the United Kingdom have concocted six different types of facial mists, and if you’re confused as to what to use or what they’re for, here’s a quick overview on each!

1. Hydrating Milky Mist

What It’s For: Plump up your skin and give it an instant surge of hydration. This rejuvenating mist is the perfect first layer of moisture before serums or makeup!

What It Contains:

Hyaluronic Acid – contrary to popular belief, hyaluronic acid isn’t harsh or skin-stripping at all. It’s a powerful humectant that keeps skin plump, hydrated, and young-looking! (my ultimate favorite Skintreats product, Glow Mud Mask, contains hyaluronic acid, too!)

Vitamin A – vitamin A is proven to reduce wrinkles, fade brown spots and smooth roughness. Anyone who wants to achieve younger-looking skin should include this in her routine.

Citric Acid – citric acid works wonders as it evens out the skin tone, unclogs pores, and helps in curing wrinkles.

When to Use: Spray all over your face and neck before applying sunblock during the day, or anytime to revitalize and give skin a burst of hydration!

2. Glow Mist

What It’s For: If you’re a fan of the dewy look, this mist gives you a naturally-glowing and luminous complexion! It keeps skin hydrated all day, and nourishes with the different essential oils it contains. (Another product that gives a similar effect is Pixi’s Flawless & Poreless Beauty Primer!)

What It Contains:

Propolis Extract – propolis is a mixture that honey bees collect from tree buds and other botanical sources, and is rich in antioxidants that fight bacteria!

Argan Oil – argan oil hydrates and softens the skin, making it extra smooth and younger-looking.

Rose Flower Oil – extracted by steam distillation, rose flower oil promotes healing and has antimicrobial powers that prevent acne breakouts. This is great for girls with acne-prone skin!

Tea Tree Oil – tea tree oil is another miracle oil that treats acne and other skin sensitivities

Lavender Oil – lavender oil offers a number of benefits, one of which includes detoxifying the skin

Lemon Peel Oil – lemon oil can be attributed to its stimulating, calming, and detoxifying properties. It revitalizes dull skin, making you look fresh all day!

When to Use: Use it before applying makeup, to achieve a natural radiance or anytime during the day to refresh and hydrate the skin!

3. Makeup Fixing Mist

What It’s For: An all-over setting mist that prolongs makeup wear and prevents it from moving or melting. It also comforts, increases hydration, and balances skin for a fresh face!

What It Contains:

Rose Water – rose water cools the skin and maintains its pH balance while fighting signs of aging

Green Tea – the antioxidants present in green tea protect skin from sun damage and prevent wrinkles

Willow Bark Extract – willow bark controls shine and keeps it at bay, making it the perfect ingredient for women with oily skin!

When to Use: Wear it after applying makeup to set, or anytime during the day to hydrate and balance the skin. To prevent makeup from looking cakey, spray it after applying your base!

4. Vitamin Wakeup Mist

What It’s For: If your skin needs an instant pick-me-up, the Vitamin Wakeup Mist is for you! Revitalize your complexion with this boosting treatment toner mist. Its skin-loving ingredients wash away all traces of fatigue and dullness on your face.

What It Contains:

Orange Blossom Water - the orange blossom water not only soothes and tones the skin but also balances the oil and brightens skin!

Citrus Fruit Extracts - these kill the bacteria present on your skin, refreshing and cleaning it in the process.

Lavender - lavender protects your skin all day and balances your skin's pH.

Arginine - arginine has properties that help repair the damage caused by environmental factors to the skin.

When to Use:  Use it any time during the day or night to resuscitate your dull and tired skin. Spritz this mist all over your face and neck to feel refreshed.

5. Sun Mist

What It’s For: This sheer and lightweight sunscreen mist is the perfect last step to your skincare or makeup routine. Not only does this mist protect you from UVA and UVB rays, but it also helps you prevent from getting sunburns.

What It Contains:

Chamomile Extract - chamomile extract protects your skin from free radicals

Bamboo Extract - bamboo extract generally strengthens your skin's barrier, making it resilient to environmental factors that may damage it

Aloe Leaf Extract - aloe leaf extract is beneficial to the skin because it soothes irritated, inflamed skin and promotes its healing

When to Use: 15 minutes before you step outside, liberally mist away under or over your makeup. Reapply at least every 2 hours to decrease the risk of early skin again caused by the sun's harmful UV rays. Did you swim or sweat? Use the Sun Mist 40 minutes after to protect your skin again.

6. Rose Glow Mist

What It’s For: If you're going a for a dewy look, this mist will keep your skin hydrated and naturally glow-y! Packed with 7 essential fatty acids and antioxidants, it also protects and improves the skin's elasticity.

What It Contains:

Rose Oil - soothing oil that provides moisture and restores the skin

Argan Oil - adds hydration and leaves the skin looking and feeling smooth

Avocado Oil - rich in healthy essential fatty acids and antioxidants

When to Use: Before makeup application, spritz a few to add an extra oomph of moisture to the skin. Mid-makeup, spritz again to set the base down. After or anytime during the day, mist all over to set or for a soothing, refreshing pick me up!

Now that you’ve seen the different benefits of Pixi by Petra’s mists, which mist is your pick?

XOXO,
